Privacy Policy

Overview

SKWRL is a place to keep, share, and discover the spots you love. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. SKWRL is operated for the iPhone app and the website at skwrl.app.

SKWRL is currently pre-launch. While the iPhone app is in development, the only product-facing data we typically collect is what you provide through the waitlist on our website. The sections below also describe data we will collect once the app is available, so you know what to expect.

Information we may collect

  • Email address. When you join the waitlist or create an account in the SKWRL app, we collect your email so we can contact you about access, account matters, and important service updates.
  • Account information. If you create an account, we store basic profile details you provide, such as a display name, and a unique account identifier so your data stays associated with you.
  • Sign in with Apple or Google. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information (such as name) from that provider so we can create or recover your account.
  • User-created content. Places you save, the lists you build, notes you add, and other content you choose to create in SKWRL. You decide what to add.
  • Optional city. If you tell us a city you live in or care about (for example, on the waitlist or in your profile), we use it to better understand demand and tailor the experience. Providing a city is always optional.
  • Location data. The SKWRL app may use your device’s location only when the app is actively using it and only after you grant permission. Location is used to show nearby places and improve relevance. You can change or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Analytics and diagnostics. We may collect limited information about how the website and app are used (such as page views, feature usage, crashes, and performance) to improve reliability and quality. Where possible, this information is aggregated and not used to identify you individually.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age required by your local law to consent to online services.

How we use information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve SKWRL.
  • To communicate with you about your account, the waitlist, and service updates.
  • To understand how SKWRL is used so we can fix problems and make it better.
  • To prevent abuse and keep SKWRL safe.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your user-created content to target advertising.

Sharing

We share information only as needed to operate SKWRL: with service providers that help us run the product (such as hosting, email delivery, analytics, and crash reporting), and where required by law or to protect rights and safety. These providers are bound by appropriate confidentiality and data protection obligations.

Some places you save in SKWRL may be associated with third-party mapping or place data providers (for example, to display a map or place details). When that information is shown, it is provided by those services and subject to their terms.

Retention

We keep waitlist and account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. We may retain limited records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Your choices and your rights

You can update information you’ve given us, opt out of non-essential email, and revoke location or other permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information.

Requesting account or data deletion

To request deletion of your SKWRL account, your waitlist entry, or other personal information you’ve provided, email hello@skwrl.app from the address associated with your account or waitlist entry and include the words “Data deletion request” in the subject. We will confirm your request and complete deletion within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain information by law.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No service can guarantee perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as SKWRL evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app.
